the lowdown from the longest month ever
hi! hello! hiya! (^‿^)
reporting from the other side of the longest month ever. january is usually one of my favourite months; a month of new beginnings, goal settings and my birthday but the first month of 2025 kicked off with a year’s worth of chaos.
i’m slowly getting back into the routine of life after being sick for a month. i saw this great tweet that was like “if i owe you an email, imagine what i owe myself” and that is exactly where i’m at right now.
last week i went to a gorgeous listening session with kode9 at 180 studios on devon turnbull’s sound system where kode9 played and talked through some of hyperdub’s classics and outlier cuts. it was really special just to sit there and listen to these records on a great soundsystem and hear kode9 chat through them. it made me miss the days where my friends and i would get back from a party and just sit and share music with each other. i left the event making a pledge to myself that i’m going to start organising little listening sessions with my friends at home, being all cute and cosy and sharing some of our favourite records with each other. it’s such a beautiful, intimate experience and no better feeling than seeing your friend’s react the same way as you to a track you love (same goes for djing and the crowd reactions). for anyone in london, definitely keep an eye on these sessions at 180 studios, couldn’t recommend them more!
