🌸 recommendations: april 2026 🌸

hiii! good afternoon! sorry to be all british and talk about the weather but it’s the first warm & sunny day of the year so i’m working outside in the garden, admiring our freshly laid lawn and new decking, thinking about all of the vegetables i’m going to grow in the new planter we put together earlier this week >.< i’m entering my green thumb era! there’s new found motherly feeling towards my garden since it’s been renovated and the way i feel about the grass and it’s need for being watered three times a day, the responsibility i now hold. it’s somewhat healing. i will make sure she settles in well!

anyway!!! looking back on last month, which already feels like a lifetime ago, it was my first full month at home this year and it felt so so good. there was a brief stint in berlin to kick the month off as we hosted the berlin edition of the 9 years of 909 radio takeovers with refuge worldwide - the platform that gave me my first ever radio show which has now been going on for 5 years! crazy. i’m going to do a full post talking about this specific takeover next week but i’m super grateful to all of the wonderful artists who contributed to a very cute day & weekend in berlin - ben sleia, sselkie, marylou, amanita, erikah vabaliukas and ophélie. full playlist of shows here. i left this takeover feeling so inspired by the people around me and the insightful conversations we were having about what we want from the future and the spaces & community we’re longing to create and nourish. it was the first time at the new refuge worldwide location too, which is gorgeous by the way and you should definitely check it out whenever you’re in berlin, but it left me feeling sad that we didn’t have a space like this in london. both refuge worldwide and lithium radio in paris (where we hosted a takeover in february) exist as spaces where the music community can come together to meet, talk, listen to music, discover new artists and be held in a space that is outside of the nightlife norm. a space that is more accessible without all of the stimulation that comes with club culture. i long for a space like this in london. if any investors are reading this and would love to chat with me about this idea, please reach out because right now it’s all i can think about and i have so many ideas of what shape this could take that is more suited to the london environment & scene-at-large.

speaking on london spaces, a few weeks after the refuge worldwide takeover, we headed to our favourite local haunt kindred for the london edition of our radio series and potentially the last to celebrate our 9th anniversary as we’re moving into party and zine planning now. another piece will focus on this takeover at a later date but sadly i don’t have anything to report from on the ground as i was annoyingly wiped out by the flu that week so instead of going back-to-back with my bb dj wiggles, she took the reins for a solo show alongside livwutang & beatrice m., dan nicholls live, hezen live, joe cotch and scar + jojo (the founders of the station <3) - you can check out the sets here. thank you so much for hosting us and thank you to the artists for all of your wonderful sets <3

some other highlights from last month include playing unfold/fold for the first time in the main room surrounded by so many close friends, it was a beautiful day!!! very very happy moment. playing for polaar at ormside projects with one of my favourite warm up sets yet (listen here) and also finally checking out lost in london (mini report here) - it’s the last two weekends of the current evolution of lost so if you’re in london, you should try and check it out as the space is crazy.

it’s the start of my festival season today with gala festival in london. this always signifies the start of summer in the city with everyone out in full force with their shiny best selves after what has felt like an eternity of hibernation. i’m so excited to see everyone, dance in the fields with my friends, and listen to some excellent sets. tomorrow and sunday i will be conducting artist interviews for the festival’s own channels again so can’t wait to yap away with everyone and lose my voice by monday! then off to refractor festival in toledo next weekend which was my highlight of last summer & i’m so excited to return!! i feel like this is what my body and soul needs right now - a weekend off grid in the spanish countryside, days spent swimming in the lake and the evenings are for listening and dancing to mindbending music with a little bit of silliness with your friends. nourishment! 🌞

𖦹 last month’s spiralling, naturally show was a b2b with alicia as a little prep session for our set at outlook this year where we will be opening the beach stage for hvywght on the sunday afternoon! she’s the co-founder of the always brilliant terra obscura and they have another gorgeous party taking place this weekend at club cheek with so many of my favourites including ok eg, garçon and daniel[i] - big recommendation for this weekend!

𖦹 hosted a trip hop special on refuge worldwide for our usual residency show - listen back here. the format of the show will be changing soon to a podcast which i’m really excited about as it’s something i’ve been thinking about doing for a while. more news coming soon!
